Colossians 2
God has hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ. I have stated on more than one occasion how necessary it is for each and every one of us to know Christ personally. I say it again and again and again. I say it because I know it to be so. I say it because I know many sincere Christians
spend hours and hours and dollar after dollar chasing after, reading about, and other wise wasting time trying to learn about Him.

Most of Paul's writings tell us to get to know Him personally, not to know about Him. When we get to know Christ personally, we cannot be moved about by every kind of false teachings that come along even when they sound good and make us feel all warm and fuzzy or emotionally high.

When someone tells you to avoid this or do that, to worship this way and not that way, or to attend this meeting and not that one, or read this book, or don't use that translation of the Bible, they are actually trying to control your life. If you submit to those "sound-good" instructions you are in danger of missing out on something God has for you.
Hear me, submitting to authority is not the issue here, submitting to a false ideal or idea is the issue.

Getting to know Jesus who is all of God the Father will cause you to trust in Him for your well-being.

You have no need to try every new fad or craze that comes along. You are not intended to live like those of the world who seek one high after another or submit to one popular teaching after another. You are intended to live like Christ's example--trusting the Father not fads.
