The Call
In the fall
of 2002 several men in the El Campo, Texas area
formed a monthly prayer breakfast. In the very
beginning we were not sure where it would lead.
One thing we were sure of; God was calling us to
begin the prayer group. This was not decided one
day just because it seemed a good idea. Instead,
many prayers and days with questions were
involved in this process. We checked and
double-checked because we had been involved in
prayer groups before that surfaced quickly and
just as quickly faded away. This was definitely
not what we were hearing from the Holy Spirit.
What we did
hear was a mandate from the Spirit to unite a
group of men who would be faithful and committed
to pray for spiritual change to come to this
city and the surrounding area. The Holy Spirit
had placed in our hearts a desire to begin
something that would be simple, yet powerful--a
group of men with hearts to pray for their
communities. Not just for a time then forget it
but men who would stay committed and would
continue praying with a passion.
This would
include praying for each other, our families,
our churches, our schools, and our cities as a
whole.
We believe
this to be of the Lord Jesus. Again I want to
re-iterate this is not a spur of the moment idea
rather it is a definite word from the Lord and
we have accepted it.

The
Structure
1. We will
meet in individual homes on a rotating basis.
Each month the breakfast is hosted by a
different person. The host person will decide if
his home is large enough to accommodate the
entire group or if we need to secure a larger
place.
2. We will
keep the dates consistent as far as scheduling.
It will always be on the 3rd Saturday of each
month. If a scheduled person finds it impossible
to host on a 3rd Saturday he will call the
leader in time to re-schedule.
3. We will
always remember the emphasis is on prayer and
the food is secondary. The meal should be simple
and easy to prepare. Since this is a men's
meeting please do not shift the responsibility
onto the wife. Men it is possible to serve a
simple meal and still have a great prayer time.
4. A
personal testimony is always in order. It too
should be simple but powerful. Please no long
drawn out sermons.
5. Each
person attending will be urged to offer prayers.
Again simple is wonderful. Remember there is
power in prayer and the more participating the
greater the powerful results.
7. The
prayer time will include: families, schools,
churches, and civil administrations.
8. We will
always remember the meeting is Holy Spirit led
and while we may pray for other issues we will
remain committed to the format mentioned above.
